Giving back is an important part of First Nations culture. Through our guiding principle, Wîtaskêwin, SIGA is “Sharing Success” and giving 100% of its profits back to the people of Saskatchewan. Many SIGA employees also live according to this guiding principle, and are active volunteers in their communities.
The SIGA Volunteer Program is now part of SIGA’s commitment to contribute to and enhance communities we share. Working in conjunction with SIGA’s Sponsorship and Scholarship Programs, the Volunteer Program aims to strengthen SIGA’s Corporate Responsibility footprint with a more hands-on approach. All SIGA employees are eligible to join this program and are encouraged to do so. At present, all six sites as well as SIGA’s head office have volunteer committees that spearhead community volunteer projects in and around their communities.
Some of the projects have been:
- Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike
- Earth Day Clean Up
- The Food Day Garden Patch
- St. Mary’s Community Christmas Dinner
- White Buffalo Community Christmas Dinner
