First Nations Provincial Spelling Bee (FNPSB)

The Annual First Nations Provincial Spelling Bee (FNPSB) will be held in Saskatoon at the St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre on Friday, March 24, 2017. It is hosted in partnership with Spelling Bee of Canada (SBOC). The FNPSB is an extension of the regular literacy program. This program will have impacts beyond the FNPSB. Students will develop new vocabulary, learn new word definitions, learn sentence structure, as well as enhance reading comprehension, reasoning, and public speaking skills, students will be supported by mentors in school. Parental involvement is necessary for permission to participate and for a commitment to support studying at home. Every child will receive a participation certificate. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each age category will receive cash prizes, trophies and certificates. All three first place winners from each age category will earn the right to represent Saskatchewan at the SBOC Championships (Nationals) in Toronto on Sunday, May 7, 2017.
