Mawe Wicihitowin (Working Together) – Aboriginal Engagement Conference

November 17, 2015 @ 8:00 am - November 18, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

Aboriginal engagement is a multi-faceted issue in Saskatchewan that has broad implications for not only Aboriginal communities but also various levels of government, business and community based organizations working in the province. The 2014 release of the Kitaskinaw Project report and the release of the Truth and Reconciliation interim report demonstrated there is a need to create learning and networking opportunities to grow and increase wise practices in Aboriginal engagement that support increased levels of Aboriginal employment and volunteer involvement.

Purpose

In collaboration with community partners, deliver a two day conference focusing on relevant issues concerning Aboriginal engagement and service delivery issues to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal participants in the city of Saskatoon. Additionally, host a concurrent Aboriginal Elders/Old People workshop focused on appropriate and respectful incorporation of Aboriginal values within program and service delivery.
