SICC National Aboriginal Day Celebrations

The SICC National Aboriginal Day Celebrations of the eight (8) First Nations Cultures of Saskatchewan is an annual event held on National Aboriginal Day. This event is primarily focused on cultural and educational programming to elementary students and intended to enhance appreciation of Canada’s rich diversity of First Nations culture and languages.

This event provides for positive contacts between the youth in attendance and First Nations Elders, cultural practitioners, knowledge keepers and presenters. This event will instill pride in Canada’s heritage by giving youth an opportunity to share First Nation experiences, stories, crafts and dance.

Activities provided for the students will include: Pow Wow Dancing Demonstrations; First Nations Art and Artifacts; Hand Drum Making; Round Dance Demonstration; Tipi Teachings; Traditional Hand Games; etc.
