It is an honour to represent the Board
of Directors of the Saskatchewan
Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) in
presenting the 2011/12 Annual Report.
At SIGA, our vision is to deliver
sustainable net income and
employment opportunities to
support First Nations development
in Saskatchewan. The SIGA Board
members remain focused on the
governance of the corporation and
on serving our stakeholders through
organizational performance. With
everyone on the SIGA Board and
within the organization working toward
a common end – SIGA has achieved
unprecedented success this year - with
revenues of $267.2M and a profit of
$81.6M for the 2011/2012 fiscal year.
This represents an increase of 27%
over the previous year’s net earnings.
Since opening its doors, SIGA has
generated over $600 million dollars in
revenue for our beneficiaries. As a fairly
young company this is an outstanding
accomplishment, one that we can all
be proud of.
As stewards of the organization,
the Board sets out a course for the
future by implementing the strategic
direction for the company. Always
looking five years ahead, SIGA
continues to reinvest in its facilities
and its people, and implement
initiatives that focus on the outcomes
required by our shareholders,
customers, and employees.
In June of 2012 I will have completed
my time as Interim Board Chairman for
SIGA’s Board. I have appreciated the
opportunity to serve in this capacity
and I want to thank the Directors,
the management team, and all SIGA
employees for their engagement and
efforts, and for their understanding
of what is possible in our future as a
company. I look forward to continuing
on as Board Member and through a
common vision we will see success.
