Annual Holiday Dinner and Hamper Give-Away Day

December 4, 2015 @ 8:00 am - December 31, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

Please accept this letter as a formal request for the above mentioned event. Regina Treaty/ Status Indian Services (RT/SIS) is the ‘Urban Delivery Arm’ of the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council and File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council.   The mandate of RT/SIS is to achieve ‘one stop service delivery’ thereby ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services to the urban populace in the City of Regina. Throughout each fiscal year, RT/SIS has on average 26,000 community members walk through our doors expecting our assistance and we do everything we can to provide this much needed support.

RT/SIS continues to fulfill our mandate and is committed to going over and above our everyday programming to ensure that the families within our community are not forgotten during the upcoming Christmas holidays. We have been told time and again by our members that this joyous season can often be difficult to get through due to financial constraints.

We are fundraising in order to provide a Christmas inspired full hamper of food products including one large celebration meal and extra products that will be given to families who are in need. Children are out of school and cannot rely on hot food programs so we ensure that the hampers have extra to get them through until they go back to school. This effort is reliant solely on the fundraising and volunteer efforts of our staff combined with the generous donations of organizations such as yours. We would ideally like to have 200 hampers ready to give away during the holiday season which unfortunately does not cover all of the families who request our assistance, but they makes a large dent in those that could use one.

Each year we feed at least one thousand people, over four- one hour intervals during our Community Christmas Meal. This meal is a chance for community members including our tiniest of newborns to our Elders are able to come together in a time of festive celebration. This meal requires approximately 50 volunteers who assist in cooking, setting up the event and take down, serving, assisting to ensure ‘Santa Claus’ is well taken care of, and of course to make sure everyone goes home full and happy.

Our expected budget for this community occasion is $ 30,000.00 which covers the cost of the Hampers and the Christmas meal. As mentioned we must fund raise because we do not have a budget to cover the colossal cost and I am requesting your organization’s support to help make this event a reality. It is our intention to ensure all of our community members who benefit from the generosity of organizations such as yours, will see your brand as part of the personal holiday greeting attached to the hampers to be dispersed and on any posters utilized as part of our campaign.
